Interior Architecture & Design

This course offers a unique opportunity to study Interior Design in Vietnam with British training methodology and qualification. Students will learn to develop the creative and inclusive design solutions that are required in an industry that is growing worldwide.

The Interior Architecture & Design course is based upon international standards, focusing upon creative and inclusive Interior Architecture & Design development. It is a three-dimensional spatial interior environment led course with focus towards meeting user needs. It celebrates functional and aesthetically attractive design and considers principles of environmental sustainability, ethical practices and regulatory requirements to be key elements which are integrated within curriculum and the design process.

The continual development of a personal portfolio of work will enable them to demonstrate their abilities to potential employers.

Year One: provides students with an understanding of the creative design process and the importance of cultural referencing and research. This work will be underpinned by acquiring the fundamental practical creative and technical skills of measurement, drawing and describing space in two and three dimensions both digitally and through hand drawing and model making.

Year 2 will build upon the skills learned in year one with more opportunity to work in depth on interior related design projects. Students will work with real spaces and creating actual prototyping furniture all with focused attention to entering future professional employment. Project works could include: Domestic and Private Housing, Retail Design, Office design, Exhibition Design / Installations, Design within the leisure and hospitality industries including hotels, restaurants, bars, clubs, spas, fitness centres, theatres and entertainment centres.

Year 3 will be completed with a final project to showcase students' work from the course at our Graduate Design Show. Intership, collaborative projects are introduced in this year to support students to be confident to enter the industry with a wide range of a career directions.

Teaching Styles

Teaching encompasses design studio practice, formal lectures, group seminars, tutorials, exhibition and store visits, presentations and practical workshops.

Assessment occurs at the end of each semester with informal critiques held at appropriate times throughout the year.

Career Opportunities

The employment potential is currently growing within Interior Design. Graduate destinations include: Commercial Interior Designer, Retail Designer, Exhibition Designer, Interior Decorator, Interior Stylist,

Space Planner, Lighting Designer, Furniture Designer, Project Manager, Draughtsperson.

Project work could include: Domestic and Private Housing, Retail Design, Office design, Exhibition Design/ Installations, Design within the leisure and hospitality industries including hotels, restaurants, bars, clubs, spas, fitness centres, theatres and entertainment centres.

Entry Requirements

  • High School Graduate or an equivalent international foundation course qualification which includes art and design.
  • English language certificate of IELTS 5.5 or equivalent. If you are not a national of a majority English speaking country and haven't completed a degree in English, you'll need to provide evidence of your English language ability to study with us. English for Design courses are available before and during the course for students who need to improve their English level to study with us.
  • Have ability in drawing or illustration or show interest (through interview). For students who are not based in Hanoi, portfolios and interviews can be done via Skype or submitted electronically.
